Tenof EM

Tenof-EM is a highly trusted generic version of Truvada, manufactured by Hetero Labs, a globally recognized pharmaceutical company. Tenof-EM combines two active ingredients to treat and prevent HIV-1 infection:

1. Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (TDF): 300 mg
2. Emtricitabine (FTC): 200 mg

This fixed-dose combination is part of the Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitors (NRTIs) drug class.

Indications:

1. Treatment of HIV-1 Infection:
   • It is used in combination with other antiretroviral medications as part of a complete regimen to suppress HIV and boost immune function.
2. Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP):
   • Tenof-EM is also used for PrEP, a preventive strategy to reduce the risk of HIV-1 infection in high-risk individuals.

How Tenof EM Works:

• Both Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (TDF) and Emtricitabine (FTC) effectively block the reverse transcriptase enzyme, which HIV uses to replicate its genetic material. As a result, by inhibiting this enzyme, the medication prevents the virus from multiplying and, consequently, lowers the viral load in the body. Dosage and Administration of Tenof EM:

2. PrEP:

   • Rare but serious condition where lactic acid builds up in the blood.
4. Hepatitis B Exacerbation:

Precautions:

1. HIV Testing for PrEP:
   • Ensure the individual is HIV-negative before starting Tenof-EM for PrEP, as it is not effective for treating active HIV infection on its own.
